Sony Xperia Z2 tablet offers high-end specification

Together with its new Xperia Z2 flagship smartphone Sony has revealed the successor to its Xpera Z Tablet, the Xperia Z2 Tablet, at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The new model comes with the same screen size and resolution as its predecessor but offers upgraded interior components that are high-end all around. The Z2 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor that has been optimized for battery consumption, an Adreno 330 GPU and 3GB of RAM. It also ships with the latest version of Android 4.4 KitKat. Like the original Z Tablet the Z2's shell is waterproof and dust-resistant but at 6.4mm it's a touch slimmer than the older model (6.9mm), making it the slimmest waterproof tablet on the market.

Like the original Z Tablet the Z2 is waterproof and dust-resistant.	An optional keyboard/cover is available.

Tablet-photographers will appreciate the Z2's 8MP rear-module. For video calling and selfies a 2.2MP front-unit is on board. The camera app offers many functions we've seen on Sony's smartphones before, such as HDR for both photos and video, Burst Mode, Scene Recognition, Sweep Panorama, Smile Detection, Face Detection and Touch Focus.

The Xperia Z2 Tablet comes with integrated Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 technology and charges up to 75 percent faster than devices without this technology. The 6000mAh lithium polymer battery isn't the largest we have seen in a tablet but according to Sony is good for up to 10 hours of use. 

Corporate users will appreciate the inclusion of OfficeSuite Pro 7 that allows you to view, edit and share Microsoft Office files. A range of new accessories is also available, too. In combination with the MDR-NC31EM Digital Noise Canceling headset, the Z2 reduces ambient noise by up to 98%. There is also a Bluetooth handset/remote control that allows for IP telephony or voice calling on the Z2's LTE/3G version. A wireless game controller allows for PlayStation-style gaming on your tablet. The Xperia Z2 Tablet will be available globally in March.
