Lensbaby has
announced that its LM-10 Sweet Spot lens for mobile devices is
available immediately through its online store and retailers worldwide.
The LM-10 concept was unveiled back in April with a Kickstarter campaign that
raised more than twice the amount needed to see the lens go into
production. Combined with the accompanying free iOS or Android app, this
1.5 inch long lens will produce the sweet spot look that Lensbaby
optics are so well known for.

Alongside the LM-10, Lensbaby has also announced the Sweet 50 optic.
The Sweet 50, a selective-focus 50mm lens, works with Lensbaby's Optic
Swap System and is also available now from its online store and
retailers worldwide. When the Sweet 50 is coupled with of the compatible
lens bodies you'll have a 50mm lens with a 12-blade aperture that
ranges from f/2.5 to f/22 and allows focus as close as 15 inches. The
size of the sweet spot can be controlled by adjusting the aperture,
while its position within the photo is determined by the movement of the
lens barrel.
The LM-10 sells for $69.95 and the Sweet 50 sells for $119.95 on its own, or for $299.95 with the Composer Pro lens mount.
Press release:
Lensbaby Announces Availability of New Sweet Spot Lens for Mobile and Sweet 50 Optic for DLSR, Mirrorless and Motion Picture Cameras
PORTLAND, Ore. -- August 19, 2014 -- Lensbaby, one
of the world’s leading makers of creative-effects camera lenses, today
announced the availability of the LM-10 Sweet Spot lens for mobile
devices. The LM-10, which allows users to create Lensbaby’s signature
"sweet spot" depth-of-field look on an iOS or Android phone, was
originally introduced in April via a highly successful Kickstarter
campaign. The lens is now available for purchase online through
Lensbaby.com and at authorized retail locations worldwide. Today the
company also announced the Sweet 50, a 50mm selective-focus optic
compatible with the Lensbaby Optic Swap System for DSLR, mirrorless and
motion picture cameras.
Both the LM-10 and the Sweet 50 deliver images with a sweet spot of
sharp focus surrounded by increasing blur. With the LM-10, the sweet
spot is determined through the use of an accompanying app. For the Sweet
50 it is determined by tilting the lens mount.
"Our goal has always been to ignite creativity by allowing
photographers to see things in a new way and have fun with their craft,
which is something that has resonated with professionals and enthusiasts
alike from Day One," said Lensbaby co-founder and chief creative
officer Craig Strong. "The LM-10 brings this same experience to the
masses who now carry what have become very capable cameras with them
24/7. We can’t wait to see the great images and video this magical
pairing will soon produce."
LM-10
The LM-10 is less than 1.5 inches long and weighs 0.7 oz. It attaches
to a mobile device fitted with a strong adhesive-backed stainless steel
ring. The lens has magnets on both ends, which allows it to be used
alone or in conjunction with other magnetic mobile lenses such as those
made by Photojojo. The lens comes with a free iOS or Android app, which
is required to select the focus point and properly orient the image. The
app also includes spot metering, exposure lock, focus lock, still/video
modes and a wide array of filters.
Sweet 50
The Sweet 50 optic is a 50mm selective focus optic with a 12-blade
adjustable aperture ranging from f/2.5 through f/22. Along with
controlling depth of field, the aperture controls the size of the sweet
spot of focus. The Sweet 50 is part of the Lensbaby Optic Swap System
and is mounted to the DSLR, mirrorless or motion picture camera via the
Composer Pro lens body.
Product specs:
