Delkin has introduced a new trio of rugged SD cards suitable for
photographers who shoot in harsh environments, reducing the odds of
losing photographs because of card damage. Delkin's new 'Black' SD
cards are designed to handle extreme temperatures, as well as exposure
to dust, water, and crushing forces.
The new rugged cards are being offered in three capacities: 32GB,
64GB, and 128GB. All three of the cards are UHS-I (speed class 3), which
allows for transfer speeds up to 99MB/s to facilitate high-speed
photography and slow-motion video recording. Because they're class 3,
the minimum speed is no less than 30MB/s.
The rugged nature of the cards allow them to handle crushing forces
up to 45lbs, which Delkin says is the most durable among all currently
available SD cards. In addition, the cards can also survive submersion
in water for up to 72 hours.
As well as crushing and submersion, Delkin's new Black cards can also
handle extreme temperatures - from -40 Celsius to 85 Celsius (185F).
Owners of one of the new cards can register it with Delkin to get a
limited Lifetime Warranty, which includes guaranteed replacement in 48
hours in the event a card fails or is damaged. Pricing and availability
information has yet to be revealed.
